Casa Museo del Perfume Canario, Teror

In the heart of the Villa de Teror, a place of pilgrimage for all Canarians and a must-see if you are visiting the island, we find our house built in the 19th century and restored by the family itself a few years ago, taking care of its original state. retail.

Guarded by the Basilica and Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora del Pino, we find the Casa del Perfume Canario® property, which has a typical composition of the old Canarian houses, in which the families located all the rooms of the house around a central patio , which was later roofed. Its walls, more than seventy centimeters thick, are made of solid stone, much of it “yellow stone from Teror”, quite prized on the islands for its striking and decorative color. This structure, also used in the Basilica, insulates very well from the heat in summer and the cold in winter. Inside, the house maintains a stable temperature of between eighteen and twenty degrees throughout the year. And we have to keep in mind that temperature is a plus point when we talk about hosting our wonderful tradition, Canarian artisanal formulation perfumery. On the outside, the house maintains the original image, with its three French-style glazed upper windows and its characteristic closed Canarian balcony (one of the few still in use on the Island), which is always ecstatically overflowing with seasonal flowers. and that stands out in the center of the helmet for its Lanzarote green color. The color of the façade has returned to its origins with the striking English red after several decades painted white. All this turns it, as many classify it when they see it, into «a flirtatious doll’s house.»

Inside, we find one of the family’s first artisanal formulation perfumeries next to the only perfume museum that exists in the Canary Islands and one of the few in Spain. In it, our team formed directly by the family, shows visitors, in more than five languages, the secret world of perfume formulation from the prism of a family tradition with more than two hundred years of history and where the sixth generation, who is in charge of the business now, has collected, trained and recovered this passion for fragrances.

Two floors dedicated to a world about which little is generally known and which, therefore, makes it even more interesting and enigmatic. In it, we immerse ourselves in a walk through the history of perfume and the different techniques used by the family. We will also be able to see a magnificent old-fashioned fragrance maturation cellar and smell perfumes in different stages of the process. A pleasant visit in which you will also learn about our perfume formulation clean room, exclusive raw materials, extraction processes and many more things. The tour will end with an olfactory tasting that will awaken your nose and make you appreciate this sense in a different way than what we are generally used to.
