In this material, Casa del Perfume Canario® can claim to be one of the only manufacturers in the world. It is an oil to which we can ascribe the term «precious essential oil», as is the case in geology when we speak of precious stones or precious materials such as diamonds or sapphire. In order to bear this designation, its properties must be precious in use. And this kind of wood fulfils this requirement for our world, that of fragrance creations.
The canarian pine wood, which is called ‘tea’, is an endemism of the islands, a very abundant tree in the Canarian mountains, especially in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Palma. The adult tree can reach more than forty meters in height and its diameter of more than two meters with tall and strong branches do so in its imposing and durable species. It stands out for its great resistance to fire thanks to a thick and compact bark that acts as effective insulator.
The colour of the wood is dark reddish, especially in hundred-year-old specimens that have already developed a lot of resin and that is what makes its smell even more intense. The century-old tree, which was used in the past as a noble building material for roofs, stairs or porches, is also highly prized for extracting its essential oil by steaming. In Casa del Perfume Canarioľ, we only extract the wood oil that has had previous uses and, therefore, we do not cut down trees for this purpose.
From the nose, it is appreciated that this oil is composed of a deep smell, with character, dry, with fresh resin that exudes a tree and even balsamic at times. It combines well with floral and citrus notes. To compose chords rich in flowers with character and also woody resinous that do not take away the protagonism. The perfumers of Casa del Perfume use it as the signature of many of their latest fragrances and, in addition, well balanced with other notes, it acts as a natural fixative and gives more consistency to a formula.
